The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow will take part in Doors Open Day on 16 September 2018.
Come in to experience this incredible building and see some of our amazing collections of medical instruments, rare books and archives to learn more about medicine and surgery in Glasgow.
Ross McGregor, Deputy Head of Engagement – Heritage said “I am delighted that the College will take part in Doors Open Day on 16 September. Our College is a jewel in the centre of Glasgow with rich heritage and a fascinating history. All are welcome, it’s free, so come in and discover it for yourself!”
As part of the day, there is a new exhibition exploring advances in anatomy and how our better understanding of the body has improved healthcare and made surgery safer. Discover how the ways in which we have visualised the body has changed over the centuries from the beautiful anatomical illustrations of the 16th century to x-rays and endoscopy. Learn about the key role Glasgow has played in these developments with the world’s first x-ray department and the use of ultrasound as a diagnostic tool.
