New Federation’s associate medical director for clinical examinations appointed

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Stuart Hood as the new associate medical director for clinical examinations for the Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Stuart Hood as the new associate medical director for clinical examinations for the Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians. In accordance with the responsibilities of his role, Stuart will become the chair of the MRCP(UK) clinical examining board (CEB), ensuring that the Part 2 clinical examination (PACES) meets the standards set by the General Medical Council.

Stuart brings a great wealth of experience and expertise to the role. He has been a consultant cardiologist at NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde since 2000 and an examiner for MRCP(UK) for 15 years. He was a member of the MRCP(UK) Cardiology Specialty Question Group from 2007 to 2012. He served as Director of Medical Examinations at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow between 2012 and 2016 and was subsequently appointed the Medical Secretary of the CEB in 2016. Stuart has also been a member of the PACES 2020 Implementation Group and is currently chairing the PACES 2020 training and communication work stream.
