The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Arab Republic of Egypt have signed a memorandum of understanding to work together to realise a successful and mutually beneficial collaboration.
As part of the MoU, the two organisations will work together to promote and advance standards of surgical, medical and dental care in Egypt and to facilitate the delivery of any face-to-face elements of the College’s highly regarded FRCS (Ophthalmology) examinations. Development of an educational programme to support potential exam candidates and the identification of opportunities to develop and/or co-badge postgraduate education, training and assessment in support of College members working in Egypt also form part of the understanding.
Speaking about the partnership, International Director of the College, Professor Hany Eteiba said,
“Our College has a strong connection with Egypt and I am delighted that we have established this memorandum of understanding that will continue to build and develop our mutually beneficial relationship. Our International Advisors will play a key role in supporting practical implementation and progress in Egypt.”
HE Professor Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, said,
“Egypt’s future is tied to the development of our youth. Part of that growth and development will come from nurturing the innovation and talent we have here in our country and the region. We are delighted to partner with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow to bring their premier teaching, research, and technology experience to Egypt and expanding our capabilities to support the growth of this cooperation.”
