New Dean-Elect of the Dental Faculty

Andrew Edwards, FDSRCPS MBChB FRCS FRCS (OMFS) has taken up post as the new Dean-Elect of the College’s Dental faculty. Mr Edwards is also the Director of Dental Examinations, International Associate Director establishing overseas education and training and a Regional Advisor for the North West of England for the College.

Andrew Edwards, FDSRCPS MBChB FRCS FRCS (OMFS) has taken up post as the new Dean-Elect of the College’s Dental faculty.

Mr Edwards is also the Director of Dental Examinations, International Associate Director establishing overseas education and training and a Regional Advisor for the North West of England for the College.

Mr Edwards was elected by Fellows and Members of the Faculty, and will take up office at the Faculty’s Annual General Meeting in October 2019.

Speaking after the AGM, Mr Edwards said:

“I’ve been involved with the College for many years and am delighted to take up this position of Dean-Elect of the Dental Faculty of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

“I hope to keep the momentum going and to build on the success of my predecessors by engaging and listening to our fellows and members to find out what they want from their College.”

Andrew was born in Dundee where he qualified in dentistry in 1987. A period of junior positions in Oral & maxillofacial Surgery followed then gained FDS from the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow in 1993. He went to medical school qualifying MBChB from the University of Aberdeen in 1998.

Basic surgical training was in the West of Scotland gaining FRCS in general surgery of the Royal College of Physicians’ and Surgeons of Glasgow in 1993. He went on to his higher surgical training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the North West of England gaining the Intercollegiate Fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2006. His is currently Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon at The Royal Preston Hospital specialising in the surgical correction of facial deformity and facial trauma.
