Nominations for the 2018 Prince Mahidol Award Laureates

The Royal Thai Embassy wishes to invite national medical or health authorities or an individual or a group of individuals in non-governmental capacity to nominate an individual, a group of individuals, or an institution that has demonstrated outstanding and exemplary contributions to the advancement of medical and public health services for humanity throughout the world, to be considered for the Prince Mahidol Award 2018.

This internationally recognised Award was established on 1 January 1992 to commemorate the centenary of the birth of His Royal Highness Prince Mahidol of Songkla, the ‘Father of Modern Medicine in Thailand’. The Award recognises those who, like Prince Mahidol, have demonstrated a lifelong dedication in the fields of medicine and public health.

All nominations will be considered by the International Award Committee, which will make recommendations to the Board of Trustees of the Prince Mahidol Award Foundation for endorsement. Two awards will be conferred on an annual basis, one in medicine and one in public health. Each award consists of a medal, a certificate and the sum of 100,000 US dollars. The presentation ceremony takes place in Bangkok in January each year. For the Prince Mahidol Award 2017, the ceremony was held on 31 January 2018 at the Chakri Throne Hall, Bangkok, Thailand, and was graciously presided over by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, representing His Majesty the King.

Further Information about the Prince Mahidol Award is available at www.princemahidolaward.org. Nominations can be submitted online or through the Royal Thai Embassy at the pressoffice@thaiembassyuk.org.uk by 31 May 2018.
