College President, Professor Jackie Taylor has been recognised with an honorary Doctor of Science (DSc) for her outstanding contribution to geriatric medicine, dedication to improving health and wellbeing in the workplace and addressing workforce challenges within the NHS.

Professor Taylor is among ten notable personalities receiving the honour from Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) at a ceremony today which will coincide with an online celebration for graduates from the classes of 2020 and 2021.

Professor Taylor said it was a great honour to receive the honorary degree. “I am so thrilled and honoured to be awarded an honorary degree from Glasgow Caledonian University. I have worked with GCU for a number of years and have very strong links with the University. We have lots of areas of common interest and we will continue to see where we can work together to bring added value.”

Vice Chancellor and Principal Pamela Gillies CBE, who is an Honorary Fellow of our College, said, “Graduations afford us the opportunity to welcome distinguished individuals into our GCU family as honorary graduates. This year we are privileged indeed to honour many worthy recipients who are: activists, leaders across many domains, creative designers, cultural icons and contributors and funders of charities and community organisations. They all share a deeply held core set of values that align with our own. They authentically live these values and are an inspiration to us all.”
