The JCST, which works on behalf of the 4 Surgical Colleges of the UK andIreland, is seeking a new Chair for its Core Surgical Training Committee. TheCSTC has been in place since 2011 and its priorities have included definingthe structure of core surgical training and agreeing an approach to qualityenhancement. Its structure and remit are about to evolve further, with anexpanded role for Core Training Programme Directors (CTPDs). The JCSTas a whole will also need to respond to any changes introduced following therecent Shape of Training review.
Those applying for the post should have active or very recent experience as asurgical trainer, working with early years surgical trainees, and be familiar withboth the Intercollegiate Surgical Curriculum Programme (ISCP) and theregulatory framework governing surgical training. We are looking for anindividual with a clear vision combined with flexibility, pragmatism and strongleadership and organisational skills.
