Junior Doctors Contracts

President Professor David Galloway, President of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, releases a statement on the agreement reached between the The Government and British Medical Association

Junior Doctors Contracts

The Government and British Medical Association (BMA) announced yesterday that they have reached agreement on the junior doctors’ contract following ten days of conciliatory talks. This agreement will be put to BMA members in a vote next month. Speaking about this major step forward, President Professor David Galloway, said:

"It is welcome news that a negotiated agreement has been reached for the junior doctors’ contract. Medical and surgical trainees are the future of clinical excellence in the NHS and it is essential that their contribution is recognised and rewarded. I hope the proposed contract will be acceptable to trainees and will restore confidence and willingness to pursue specialist training in the NHS."
