MRCP(UK) Trainee representatives

Appointments: Trainee representatives on the MRCP(UK) Management Board, Joint Curricula and Assessment Committee, Specialty Certificate Examinations Steering Group and MRCP(UK) Part 1 Examining Board.

The Federation of Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK is seeking to appoint trainee representatives to four of the Boards responsible for overseeing the development and quality of its examinations. MRCP(UK) regards trainee involvement in the management and organisation of its examinations as essential. Successful applicants will become full members of boards, and actively participate in their work and projects. They will be expected to promote the viewpoint of trainees in the development of the overall strategy and policy of the MRCP(UK) and Specialty Certificate examinations.

Applicants should meet the following criteria to be eligible to apply:

• Hold MRCP(UK) and be a member of one of the three Colleges
• Be registered with a licence to practise and in good standing with the General Medical Council
• Be up-to-date with relevant national guidelines, the requirements of their training programme, and their employer’s equality and diversity training and appraisal process
• Be able to attend the meetings (4 half-day board meetings for Management Board p.a.; 3 half-day meetings for Joint Curricula and Assessment Committee p.a.; 1 half-day Board meeting for the SCE Steering Group; 3 two-day meetings for the Part 1 Examining Board. The dates of these meetings are available on request)
• In addition, applicants for the post on the SCE Steering Group should be a trainee in one of the twelve specialties in which the examinations are run.

This is a non-salaried position, although all reasonable expenses and travel costs incurred in travelling to meetings will be met by MRCP(UK) Central Office in line with the Federation expenses policy.

Trainee representatives will be appointed for a period of three years, and post-holders will be required to demit once they have completed their training. Attendance at meetings is monitored and members may be asked to step down if they fail to attend regularly.
