The SIGN guideline on Dental interventions to prevent caries in children has been published. It replaces SIGN guidelines 47 and 83.
Dental health in Scotland has shown a steady improvement since the 1980s. However, nearly a third of Scottish children still suffer with a preventable disease, the burden being greatest in those from disadvantaged backgrounds. The guideline will be of interest to health care professionals providing oral health advice to children in a one-to-one situation.
