Sir Thomas James Thomson

I regret to inform you of the death of our Past President Sir Thomas James Thomson on the 20 July 2013. He was President from 1982-1984 and during his term of office hosted a visit by Her Majesty the Queen as well as overseeing some key developments within the College. He had previously served college as Council Member, Honorary Secretary and Chairman of the Education Committee.

He also had a long and distinguished career as a Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist at Stobhill Hospital and Honorary Senior Lecturer in the department of Materia Medica. He was Post Graduate clinical Tutor at Stobhill for a remarkable 20 years and the redeveloped Postgraduate Centre was appropriately named after him. A full obituary will appear in due course. The Royal College extends its deepest sympathies to Lady Thomson and the family.

Dr Frank Dunn, President

The funeral service will take place at Wellington Church, Southpark Avenue, on Friday, 26 July at 12 noon, thereafter to Glasgow Crematorium, Maryhill arriving 1.30pm.
