Healthcare professionals will be able to make a difference to their own health and wellbeing thanks to an event by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

‘Making Life Work Better’ is a one-day conference that will result in clinicians being inspired to make changes within their workplace. With burnout increasingly being reported by healthcare professionals, this event will make people inspired to make changes within their workplace.

Influential speakers from healthcare and beyond will explain topics including the changing cultures in healthcare, ensuring doctors’ mental health, sports psychology in the workplace and putting people at the heart of leadership. If people are unable to attend on the day, there will be advice from speakers on our website and social media.

Ahead of the conference, event director Dr Joanna Kerr said:

“Physician wellbeing is directly correlated with quality of care and patient safety. In recent years, the expectations placed on healthcare workers have risen consistently. Making Life Work Better 2019 will look at what we as individuals, teams and communities can do to change the environment to which we work.

“Everyone who works as a physician or a nurse or a healthcare worker turn up to our jobs daily because patients are the focus of our working lives. What has become increasingly clear is that our health is their health”.

A full agenda for the day can be found online here.

Throughout this week we will be sharing tips and advice on wellbeing within the medical profession on our website. You can also follow us on Twitter, or like our Facebook page for these updates and more.
